Rusty Blackbird (Rare in Utah)

Fireworks on Lower River Road

Reports of hundreds of Evening Grosbeak along with a large flock of Cedar and possibly Bohemian Waxwing provided the spark for us to travel to Francis. We were rewarded with all but the Bohemian Waxwing, but American Goldfinch, tons of Robins and a little character that we couldn't id. Rusty Blackbird? Grackle? Brewer's Blackbird? We'll get it sorted out!

Golden Eagle

Today we decided to get out of the smog of the valley and bird in some clean air. We headed up to Heber City and then over to Red Cliffs State Park. We came across a Golden Eagle eating on a deer carcass surrounded by Magpies wanting a taste. We viewed a total of four Golden Eagels, two bald eagles, lots of American Robins and a few Townsend Solitairs.
